Dim Sum at The Golden Dragon, Hong Kong – Rating the Menu

During my recent trip to Hong Kong, I had the pleasure of dining at The Golden Dragon, a renowned dim sum restaurant known for its exceptional quality and traditional Cantonese flavors. Situated in the heart of the city, this charming restaurant exudes a welcoming, authentic atmosphere with a modern twist, offering both locals and tourists an unforgettable dim sum experience.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped by the hustle and bustle typical of a bustling Hong Kong dim sum restaurant. The service was quick, efficient, and warm, with waiters rolling trolleys laden with steaming baskets of dim sum through the restaurant. I couldn’t resist starting with their signature Har Gow (Shrimp Dumplings), and they did not disappoint. The delicate translucent wrappers encased plump, juicy shrimp, with just the right amount of seasoning. The texture was spot-on—soft and chewy yet firm enough to hold the shrimp filling perfectly.

Next, I tried the Siu Mai (Pork and Shrimp Dumplings), which were another highlight. The pork was tender and flavorful, and the shrimp added a delightful burst of sweetness. Topped with a small dollop of fish roe, these dumplings offered a satisfying balance of savory and sweet, complemented by the rich, umami flavors from the dipping sauce.

I also sampled the Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Buns). The buns were perfectly fluffy, with a sweet and savory BBQ pork filling that was rich and indulgent. The contrast between the soft bun and the savory filling made every bite a joy.

The Golden Dragon offers some of the best dim sum I’ve ever had, combining authenticity with quality. It’s a must-visit for anyone craving the finest Cantonese dim sum in Hong Kong.
